Level 2: Fluency in Action

Target Learners: Late kindergarten to early elementary

 

Overview:
Level 2 contains 22 Lessons.  Building on Level 1, students begin to read longer sentences with more phonics complexity such as blends (e.g., br, cr, sl), digraphs (ck, th), and varied vowel sounds. The emphasis is now on reading fluency, accuracy, and developing comprehension through context.

 

Key Features:

• Introduction of blends and digraphs: miss, crust, jacket, mock

• Sentence reading for fluency (e.g., THE CRUST ON THE BIG RIBS)

• High-frequency word exposure (they, this, that, then)

• Mini stories begin to appear within lessons

• Decodable reading with light sight word support
